Kingswood Health Centre are pleased to announce that from 01/04/2016 we will be hosting a Minor Injury Service for our patients. The new service will be available during normal GP surgery opening times on weekdays. At your appointment you will be seen by a Nurse trained in treating Minor Injuries. You may be referred to a GP, another care centre or given advice about self-care if required.

Patient Access Online Services - April 2016

Kingswood Health Centre now offers the facility for patients to view online, export or print detailed coded information held in their own records from April 2016.

To request this access, please enquire at Reception. You will need to provide two forms of identity in order to get this access. If you already have a 'Patient Access' account this functionality can be added to it.

Kingswood Health centre currently offer the facility for patients:-

  • to book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online;
  • to order online, view and print a list of their repeat prescriptions for drugs, medicines or appliances;
  • to view online, export or print summary information from their record, relating to medications, allergies, adverse reactions and any other items agreed between the practice and individual patient.

One Care Data Sharing

Who are One Care?

A number of GP practices across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire have come together to form the One Care Consortium, with the Out of Hours service Brisdoc, and NHS community service provider, GP Care.

What are the benefits of local data sharing?

If you see another local GP they will be able to view your records to enable them to make the right decisions and record your treatment. You will be able to make appointments, order repeat prescriptions and view some of your medical records through your practice website.

Who will my patient records be shared with?

The agreement will only enable local GP practices, Brisdoc or GP Care to access your patient record. Even then, your records will only be shared with healthcare professionals who are treating you or administrative staff who book your appointments.

What Choice do I have about sharing my patient record?

If you have already chosen to opt out of local data sharing agreements, your current preferences will continue to be in place. The care that you receive may be less effective because clinicians will not be able to see your full medical history in order to treat you.

For more details about what data sharing means for you as a patient, please visit or contact your GP practice.

Same Day Telephone assessments for muscle, joint or spinal problems

Kingswood Health Centre is taking part in a pilot service which offers the opportunity to receive specialist advice from a physiotherapist about your sore muscles, joints or spine (MSK problems) rather than a GP first from early November 2015.

You are eligible for this service if you have developed a problem with your muscles, joints or spine in the last six weeks (either flare up of a pre-existing condition, or a completely new problem), have not already seen anyone about this episode, are aged over 18 and are able to travel to an appointment.

If you contact the practice asking for an appointment with your GP, you may instead be offered a telephone call with a physiotherapist. The physiotherapist will be specialised in dealing with these kind of problems. They will assess what is wrong and give you specialist advice and exercises to help. The physiotherapist may then ask you to have a follow up face to face appointment to offer you further assessment. It will usually be arranged within five days of having the initial telephone call. You may need to travel to another GP practice for this appointment.

Shingles Vaccine

The Shingles vaccine will be offered routinely as part of the NHS vaccination programme to all people aged 70, 78 or 79 on 1st September 2015. If you are eligible for a vaccination you will receive a letter from the surgery. Please speak to one of our receptionists to book your appointment.

Even though you may have had Chickenpox you may still be at risk of developing shingles. Unfortunatley in older people this can be more severe which is why the Department of Health has introduced a shingles vaccination.
